What You Need To Know About Ocean Conservation

By Donna Bennett

Due to lack of awareness on waste disposal methods, water bodies are overly polluted with domestic and industrial waste. Many people are not aware of the health risks following consumption of contaminated water. Industrial waste poses more health risks as it contains harsh chemicals that may lead to death of aquatic animals. The water may have high concentrations of heavy metals and upon consumption of sea food the metals enter into our systems and trigger cancer growth. For this, it is important to learn about ocean conservation.

Human activities play the greatest role in damaging the marine. Many deposit waste into water bodies out of sheer ignorance of the rules and laziness to drop waste bins into the nearby dumping site. The nutrients deposited from the industries lead to overgrowth of aquatic plants that cover the water surface and suffocate the animals due to inadequate oxygen. The most endangered species are fish, whales and sea turtles.

Conserving the ocean keep it clean and safe. Once trash is deposited into the water body, the waves carry the garbage to other areas destroying the smooth outline of the water body. Traveling across the water body becomes difficult as the garbage gets stuck along the boat surface and water hyacinth entangles the ships. Ferries and boats are at high risk of capsizing as they force their way out of the garbage and plants.

Protecting the sea from pollution is medically beneficial. Intake of water from the contaminated region leads to diarrhea, vomiting, hyper-pigmentation, ulceration, chronic pains, lameness, and cancer. Diarrhea is the main cause of deaths among children under the age of five and the aged because their body systems are weak and cannot clear the toxins.

Water body conservation is cost friendly. The money used in clearing of wastes from the sea and treatment of water for industrial and domestic practice can be invested in other productive areas. The finances would be better if used in setting up more lodgings to accommodate a large number of foreigners thus creating new job opportunities in the tourism and hospitality fields.

The process increases the annual collection in a country. Clean seas are safe to travel and swim in, and as more foreigners come into the country, the finances collected are transferred to the national government treasury to promote local growth. Agriculturalists export aquatic animals and pharmaceutical manufacturers to meet the deadlines of delivering medication as the contaminant-free water require a short treating procedure making the manufacturing process fast.

To ensure safe human practices, consider creating awareness about the importance of marine conservation. The national bodies responsible for monitoring the state of marine should extend their campaigns to as many areas as possible. Recognize the ambassadors of marine preservation by awarding them to inspire others to follow the same path.

The nation should set strict rules about marine conservation. A heavy punishment should be given as a reminder of the need to maintain the neatness. Industry workers should be taught on how to recycle runoff water that is rich in nutrients. It is only by keeping this water free from dirt that you can enjoy swimming and skiing.
